Auxiliarists should be aware of several actions taken this week at the federal level which may have an impact on our programs and conduct, or on which they may wish to comment:

  • Vacancy on the National Safe Boating Advisory Council.  The Coast Guard is seeking applicants for membership on the National Boating Safety Advisory Council. This Council advises the Coast Guard on recreational boating safety regulations and other major boating safety matters.  For details, see: http://www.regulations.gov/, using the link: USCG–2010–0316
  •  Recreational Boating Safety Strategic Plan Announced.  The Coast Guard is requesting public comments on its draft strategic plan of the National Recreational Boating Safety Program for 2017–2021.   This plan is under development to coordinate efforts of stakeholders to prevent future deaths and injuries of recreational boaters.  For details, see: http://www.regulations.gov/.   Enter: USCG–2016–0074 in the SEARCH box that opens on the Web page.   If Auxiliarists choose to comment remember that you are commenting as an individual and not as a representative of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  The Draft Strategic Plan may also be seen at:  https://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=USCG-2016-0074-0001
